Chaplaincy Connect

Catholic Campus Ministry

Heading off to Post-Secondary Education?
Connect with Campus Ministry anywhere in Canada!

The goal of Chaplaincy Connect is twofold: to help graduating students know about campus ministry, and to encourage them to get involved when they move on to university or college.

Many high school students stop practicing their faith after their transition to post-secondary.

Some of this is an intentional choice, but research suggests that it’s also because students are not being connected with a stable, supportive Catholic community on their campus.

Chaplaincy Connect exists to bridge the “faith gap” experienced by many students between their graduation from high school and their transition into post-secondary studies. There are excellent Catholic groups working on campuses across Canada, and we want high school students to know about them so that they can learn about the supports available to them before they even set foot on campus.

How does Chaplaincy Connect work?

  1. Students are invited to complete the Google form. There is no requirement to leave contact information, and it is totally voluntary.

  2. For those who would like more information about campus chaplaincy, a representative from their destination post-secondary institution will reach out to them by email or phone to determine ways they might choose to get involved in campus ministry, according to the student’s preference. These might include such things as visiting campus to check out the campus ministry’s location and amenities, getting connected with another Catholic student in an upper year of the incoming student’s chosen program, or planning to reconnect during Orientation Week.

  3. Students are under no obligation to campus ministries, will not be contacted more than once unless they request further communication, and will be contacted by security screened and trained campus ministry staff or students who abide by Safe Environment policies.

  4. The program is available year-round, but the best time of year to provide students with the Google link and encourage them to complete it is in May and June. At that time of the year, most students will know where they are going in the fall and will have a high level of interest in connecting with chaplaincy at their post-secondary destination.
