OUR MISSION

for the Youth of St. John of the Cross Parish:

To evangelize and form young disciples that strive to know, love and serve God and His Church.
That the youth act with virtue, fueled by the Sacraments and growing in daily personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Such that in their adulthood, they are confident and convicted in deep Catholic faith, so they may glorify and defend Our Lord in the public arena and inspire others just as the early Christians did under persecution, building the Kingdom.

The Office of Catholic Youth on behalf of the Archdiocese of Toronto and the Catechetical Institute of Franciscan University of Steubenville have partnered to provide certificate & enrichment opportunities for adults looking to go “deeper” in their formation, education & ability to ministry to youth.

What is the process for parishes?

Parishes or organizations willing to subscribe to gain access to the Youth Ministry track (in addition to countless other workshops and tracks) can register at www.franciscanathome.com/toronto There is a blue button to “Register Online” on this page.  A pastor or representative can register the parish/organization for an annual fee of $300 US to Franciscan University through that portal.  That allows any number of parishioners from that parish to access the Franciscan University content whether in pursuit of the Youth Ministry certificate sponsored by Franciscan and the Archdiocese of Toronto, or as an enrichment learner (no assignments or mentoring required).

What is the process for learners?

Step 1:  For learners seeking to receive a Youth Ministry certificate, they must register through this portal first:

https://secure.e-registernow.com/cgi-bin/mkpayment.cgi?state=3391

If a person’s parish/organization has already subscribed, contact the parish contact person or the OCY to get your parish’s Access Code before completing the payment option of your learner account.  This way you will be charged only the $204 annual ‘mentor’ fee to goes towards an assigned mentor who journeys with you along your learning process.

Step 2: After you have completed registration and submitted payment for the certificate, you may go to www.franciscanathome.com/toronto and go to the “Register Online” portal and create an account under your parish.  Once you have set up your learner account, and your payment has been processed, your account will become active as a certificate learner and you may engage the “Request a mentor” option before or during your workshops.

What about learners who do not have a subscribing parish?

Step 1: Learners without a subscribing parish can still take the Youth Ministry certificate track.  Proceed to complete the registration at:

https://secure.e-registernow.com/cgi-bin/mkpayment.cgi?state=3391

You will not receive a parish discount code however, and the cost will be $254 ($204 for the mentoring, $50 to the parish annually) under whom you will be acting as a “learning parishioner”.  Once your payment has been processed, you will be contacted by someone from the OCY to direct you as which parish you are to be a “registered learner” under.

Step 2: After you have completed registration, submitted payment for the certificate and been directed to a parish to register under, you may go to www.franciscanathome.com/toronto and go to the “Register Online” portal.  There you will create an account under your assigned parish (second option under the “Register Online” buttons).  Once you have set up your learner account, your account will become active as a certificate learner and you may engage the “Request a mentor” option before beginning your workshops.

If you have any questions surrounding this process or about the learning certificates, please feel free to contact the OCY at 416-599-7676 x 225 or email at youth@ocytoronto.org
