40DFL Oakville Homepage

September 25th to November 3rd

8am - 8pm Daily
*** Prayer takes place @ NW corner of Proudfoot Trail & Dundas St. (1363 Dundas St.) ***

40 Days for Life is a groundbreaking, coordinated international mobilization.

We pray that, with God’s help, this will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in our

cities, provinces, nations and across the world.

We find ourselves in a world where the "Culture of Death" is increasingly more aggressive than ever. We are in a spiritual battle and our united prayer will make a difference.

This Fall campaign will be one of the biggest mobilizations of pro-lifers ever, in 377 cities around the world.

Join Christians of all ages, backgrounds, and faith traditions in praying for an end to abortion!

The Oakville vigil is the closest to our parish. Invite your friends, family, Pastors, prayer groups etc... to be part of this international prayer movement to end abortion.

Reminder: To help with planning and ensuring all 8am - 8pm timeslots are filled, please sign up for a timeslot before going to the Vigil. (Not mandatory)

Please use the online Vigil Calendar (

St. John of the Cross Parish will be hosting
a screening of this moving film in early 2020

Unplanned is the inspiring true story of one woman’s journey of transformation.

All Abby Johnson ever wanted to do was help women. As one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the nation, she was involved in upwards of 22,000 abortions and counseled countless women about their reproductive choices. Her passion surrounding a woman’s right to choose even led her to become a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood, fighting to enact legislation for the cause she so deeply believed in.

Until the day she saw something that changed everything, leading Abby Johnson to join her former enemies at 40 Days For Life, and become one of the most ardent pro-life speakers in America.

LIFE CHAIN @ St. John of the Cross Parish

The annual national Life Chain event in public awareness for the innocent children killed by abortion, will be held on Sunday, October 6th, 2019 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm (Following the Noon Mass) at the intersection of Glen Erin and Derry.

Please prayerfully come out with fellow St. John of the Cross parishioners and stand in a peaceful yet powerful street witness campaign in support of every human being's right to life.

Life Chain is held annually at more than 200 locations in Canada on the first Sunday in October.
As a parish we’ve been doing this for many years now, and hope that you and your family will join us this year.

Featured Quotations

“May this be a peaceful and prayerful witness to the sanctity of human life and the dignity of the human person.”
~His Eminence Thomas Cardinal Collins

"Always in a spirit of charity and respect, you have shown exceptional counter-cultural tenacity in upholding the most basic human right."
~Most Reverend Terrence Prendergast, S.J.

How Does it Work?

Life Chain is an easy way to get involved in pro-life activism. Just find out where and when your local Life Chain will be held, and then show up for one hour to stand on the sidewalk with others who are not ashamed to be a public witness. Your local Life Chain organizer will provide you with a non-graphic Life Chain sign to hold, and you may pray silently for an end to abortion and for those affected by it.
